The Life and Times of the Wagoners

This was an email that a friend sent me, it is very touching. Whether this really happened or not I think it is a great thing for us to do. This year on Mother's Day I encourage you to think about ways that we can serve our mothers instead of expensive gifts. Thoughtful acts are more meaningful than gifts.

BEING A MOTHER...

After 17 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to
take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She
said, 'I love you, but I know this other woman loves
you and would love to spend some time with you.'

The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit
was my MOTHER, who has been alone for 20 years,
but the demands of my work and my two boys had
made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for
dinner and a movie.
* * *
'What's wrong, aren't you well,' she asked?
* * *
My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a
late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign
of bad news.
* * *
'I thought it would b e pleasant to spend some
time with you,' I responded. 'Just the two of us.'
She thought about it for a moment, and then said,
'I would like that very much.'

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick
her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her
house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous
about our date. She waited in the door. She had
curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she
had worn to celebrate her last birthday on November 19th.

She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an
angel's. "I told my friends that I was going to go
out with my son, and they were impressed," she said,
as she got into that new white van. "They can't wait to hear
about our date".

We went to a restaurant that, although not
elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my
arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat
down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only
read large print. Half way through the entries, I
lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at
me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips. "It was I
who used to have to read the menu when you were
small," she said. "Then it's time that you relax and
let me return the favor," I responded.

During the dinner, we had an agreeable
conversation- -nothing extraordinary but catching up
on recent events of each other's life. We talked so
much that we missed the movie.

As we arrived at her house later, she said, 'I'll
go out with you again, but only if you let me invite
you.' I agreed.
* * *
"How was your dinner date ?" asked my wife when I
got home.
'Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined,'
I answered.
* * *
A few days later, my mother died of a massive
heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't
have a chance to do anything for her.
* * *
Some time later, I received an envelope with a
copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place
mother and I had dined. An attached note said: 'I
paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I
could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two
plates - one for you and the other for your wife.
You will never know what that night meant for me. I
love you, son.'

At that moment, I understood the importance of
saying in time: 'I LOVE YOU' and to give our loved
ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is
more important than your family. Give them the time
they deserve, because these things cannot be put off
till 'some other time.'

Its offical, I HAVE LOST MY MIND!!! I was at work talking to the enterprise rental guy about a guy that use to work with Brandon. As the conversation is coming to an end I say "ok, I love you". OH MY GOSH, What did I say??? My co-worker Tesha turns around and says "Who did you just say that to?". The Enterprise guy says "I know I'm helpful but isn't that a little over the top?" I am horrified!!! I guess because the guy that I was setting up the rental for had been talking to me about Brandon and that is what my mind was on. Brandon if you read this know that I do think of you during the day!!!

I had surgery on my head in March and they had to shave some of my hair. I was very upset about how it looked and how much was gone(it looked worst to me). My mom, grandparents and mother-in-law Lynda went out and bought me hats. I took a few pictures of myself so I could prove to my mommy that I wore her hat. Do I look goofy taking my own pictures or just conceited??? I do believe that we should take pictures of our self if that is the only way we get in the picture. My aunt died and we have very few pictures of her for her girls. I try to hand the camera to whoever is with us so that I can be in a few with Ty.

For my mom's birthday, I told my brother that I wanted to take the three grandkids and take their pictures together and frame them for mom's present. My brother has two little ones and I have Ty and we haven't taken pictures of them together. My mom loved her gifts and the pictures turned out great. Getting my nephew Dakota to stay away from the slide was tricky so afterwards we let the boys play. They were too cute!!! Do you see Ty's hat? Same type of hat as in the blog before this one....HE LOVES THEM!!!

Ty has a new thing with hats. He loves this type of hat, I call them the golfing hat. It all started Christmas 06 at The Umbrella. Mrs. Clark had them to dress up in hats and go caroling down Main St and he picked a hat like this and he looked good in it. Since then he has found them in several colors and wears them alot. Isn't he adorable??? I think so!!!

A few weekends before my niece Kayce's birthday we had a day out with her. It started out as a girls only day but as you see we had a little guy with us too. My mother-in-law(Lynda), sister-in-law(LeAnn) and I took her to Frisco, TX. Lynda had set up an appointment at Libby Lu (girly store deluxe) to have a Princess makeover or Hannah Montana makeover. We went to eat at Olive Garden(Aunt Jen's fav)then headed over to Stonebriar Mall. We have an appointment time at Libby Lu's so we go over and shop for clothes at Children's Place. We still had about 15 minutes left so we went to Build A Bear, which is just across from Libby Lu, Kayce found a bear that she wanted and we told her that after we went to Libby Lu we would go back and get the bear. She was not happy. We got over to Libby Lu and she would not do the makeover! Did I mention that Lynda had to prepay.... So they gave her a credit and we went back across and got her bear at BAB. We thought that she may change her mind about the makeover after she had her bear but NOPE!!! She did find some stuff in Libby Lu to take care of the credit but Aunt Jen was hopefull that Kayce would play dress up but Kayce would have nothing to do with that. Aunt Jen is still hopeful!!!! A fun time was had by all even Jake who got a dino at BAB too! In the picture he is making his dino walk instead of riding in the stroller with him!! Too Cute!

Ty's Loving Servant group recently sent a care package to a little girl from Nicaragua that we agreed to help support. In these pictures the kids are making cards that are sent with the package.... It is so important that we teach our children to give to others. Ty had a great time.

Ty's buddy Alec had his birthday party at Bouncing Around. The kids and Adults had a great time!!!! Alec's mom Jamie even got into the action.

I have had internet issues at home and have not been able to post anything for a while. For my loyal blogger friends, my deepest apologies. I know that I have a lot of catching up to do so the blogs my not be in order but be patient and hopefully it will get better.
